Jets bullish after win

After watching his team's 5-2 demolition of Sydney FC at the SFS on Sunday, Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond fired a warning towards the rest of the A-League clubs by claiming that his players will cause a lot of damage in the A-League playoffs if they qualify for it.
This was one of the best away results in the history of Newcastle, who now find themselves among the top six sides on the A-League points table.
The win buoyed van Egmond's spirits so much that he said his players have what it takes to be the giant killers in the finals.
Perth Glory are 1.72 to defeat Gold Coast United, who themselves are 4.50 to get the win.
"It's great for the team. We had a bit of rough trot there for a while and hadn't won a game away from home for over a year - we've now won two and it's a good feeling," van Egmond said.
"Everyone is selling something. I'm selling how we want to play and to close the deal is by winning.
"Now you get some results with it, the belief becomes a lot better (and) there's a lot more confidence within the group. It builds a platform.
"We're starting to gain some momentum and I think if we get into the finals we can cause a few headaches."

The Jets stunned the hosts with three unanswered first half goals and were in total control of the match at the halfway stage.
But the Sky Blues mounted a determined comeback in the second half, which saw them score two goals of their own.
However, their efforts proved fruitless as van Egmond's men scored two more late in the second half to make sure that they emerge victorious.
