Paul Pierce led all scorers as the Boston Celtics moved back to .500 with a win over the visiting Indiana Pacers.
The veteran forward was two assists short of a triple-double as he hit 10-of-23 for 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in Boston's 94-87 win at the TD Garden. Chris Wilcox dropped in 14 off the bench as the Celtics won despite missing regular starters Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo.
Boston was unable to gain any ground on the 76ers in the Atlantic division as Philadelphia strolled to an 89-72 win over the Charlotte Bobcats. Backup point guard Lou Williams had a game-high 17 points for Philly who moved to 13-6 overall and 9-2 at home while condemning the Bobcats to their 17th loss of the season.
In a battle of two losing clubs the New Jersey Nets went into Cleveland and edged the Cavaliers 99-96. Rookie Kyrie Irving had a career-high 32 points in defeat for the Cavs who despite their losing record currently hold the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Celtics are 17.00 to win the NBA Championship while the Pacers are 61.00 and the 76ers are 34.00.
