Dwayne Wade had 28 points as the Miami Heat ran out 10 point victors against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The perennial All-Star was 11-of-19 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the line in his first game back from a twisted ankle. LeBron James led all scorers with 31 as the Knicks played without Carmelo Anthony, who is out with a number of niggling injuries. In his absence Bill Walker came off the bench to lead the Knicks with 21 points in the 99-89 loss, hitting seven 3-pointers in a strong 31 minutes of work.
Miami remains a half game ahead of the Atlanta Hawks, who went into Detroit and beat the Pistons 107-101 in overtime. Joe Johnson had a game-high 30 for the Hawks and Marvin Williams was an efficient 6-of-9 for 22 more as Atlanta bounced back from a poor loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
Also responding well to defeat were the Chicago Bulls, who followed their upset at the hands of the Indiana Pacers with a 107-100 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Derrick Rose had a season-high 34 points on 14-of-24 shooting to lead the way.
Miami Heat are 2.70 to win the NBA Championship while the Knicks are 7501.00 and the Hawks are 7501.00.
